I Love Chubby Babies!

Well, we've been to the doctor for Lucy's 4 month checkup (a little late) and the stats are in: she weighs 15.5 lbs and is 24.5 inches long. These are both right on track in the 75th and 50th percentiles respectively. I don't remember the numbers on her head circumference but it was 90th percentile. In developmental news, she has learned to sit up on her own! That is about a month and a half faster than her big brother. Of course, she has somebody to try to keep up with. Her comment? "Mama, sitting up is SO last week! I want to stand!" Once she is standing the incredible fat rolls come into focus. She actually has a dimple on her thigh!

For those of you who don't enjoy pictures of fat babies, skip to the end of the post to catch up with Benjamin. Otherwise, feast your eyes!

While Mama was busy taking pictures of baby fat, Benjamin and Daddy were enjoying watching Sesame Street; if you look closely, you will see the letter "A."
Benjamin can sing the whole alphabet song, count to 5, and is rapidly expanding his song vocabulary. The other day he was singing "Mary, Mary..." We were quite confused, then realized it was part of his rendition of "Row, Row your Boat." It's really "Merrily, merrily!" We're not quite sure where he learned it as neither of us has taught it to him!

Daddy's Little Helper

John and Benjamin are moving pieces of a very nice queen bed we were loaned by friends. It is now set up in our guest bedroom, along with the sewing machine and a plan for some shelving to store stuff. The shelving is still sitting in our living room though, waiting for a rainy day...
Benjamin especially enjoys wearing this set of "Cars" underwear- he always wants to wear it and is disappointed when it gets dirty and has to be in the laundry for a while. We are still working on wearing underwear and getting there. We did go to the pediatrician's for Lucy's 4 month check up, where he peed in a public potty for the first time!

Rearraning

With the shelves in placed we felt like the furniture needed adjusting. And yes the baby gate is up once again.

Freezer Refinished

Granny's old freezer. We inhertied this freezer a couple of months ago and it's temporary home was on our front porch. Which I know must of drove the neighbors crazy. At any rate, there was a great deal of prep work that needed to be applied to the freezer before we could bring it inside. Mainly we had to scrub off all the nicotine that had built all over as well as sand off the rust that had begun to form in various places. Therefore a massive 'airing out' had to commence. Mari was able to rub off most of the nicotine with a wash rag and a bleach solution. I however neglected to move forward with sanding the rust spots. And when we did get around to sanding we had to sand in a couple of extra places. Before painting and sanding we wanted to make sure the freezer was going to work well and not leak or drip. So we had it on for the last few days this week making sure it would get cold and stay cold and not cause puddles on the porch out front. With all these test passed it was time to sand and paint.

The top had a great deal of rust. However much we sanded those spots came out pitted.

Although, I've done lot's of sanding on wooden furniture this was my first attempt at refinishing a metallic object. The principles were the same, stray or cross grain sanding marks will show up in the final product, over spray will turn your porch white, and you have to sand within all the cracks and crevices. Dad always ran us out when it came time for spraying furniture, though I was able to watch from a distance we weren't allowed to close. I began applying paint to the top of the freezer and worked my way around. Mari has commented on how well it looks and how smooth the paint makes the sides feel. Not commenting on a good spray job, I give all credit to those cans of spray paint!

The next step is to install and new door gasket that has been ordered and another Honey-Do project can be checked off!
Sorry for not taking any 'in between' pictures. You will have to rely on your imagination.

Moody's @ Splashville

We took the kids a couple of days ago. Benjamin was a little slow at warming up to playing by himself but he really did have a great time.

New Heights...

John took a page out of Steven's book- Kayligrace loves to look through the transom, so we decided to see what Lucy thought...
Not quite sure what to make of this!

Stroller TIme

One of Benjamin's favorite activities at his Granddaddy's house is pushing a stroller on the driveway. Here he is joined by cousin Kayligrace:
