Backlog: Carthage, IL


After traveling for 12 hours, we were all getting a little tired.  So we decided to make an unplanned stop in Carthage to visit Carthage Jail, site of the martyrdom of the Prophet Joseph Smith.  We toured the jail, then stopped outside to take a few pictures:
The upper window in this picture looks into the room where it all took place.  Benjamin thought this well was great fun to climb on!
Then we looked up and saw some old Anasazi friends!  Amy and Kelly, who live in Utah were traveling home from visiting family in the east with their twin toddlers.  We hadn't seen them for years and had a great time catching up.  We had ice cream together in Nauvoo and talked a while... no pictures of that though!
