After working at Philmont for 2 summers, I had to get Mari out there for a visit. We toured Wahe tite Phillips house and then brought her some turquoise jewelry at pawn shop prices. This is an area where the great plains meets the Southern tip of the Colorado Rockies (called the Sangre de Christo mountain range). A few facts: over 22,000 participants will hike through the 137,000 acres at Philmont Scout Ranch every summer.
Our camp site was lumpy under our tent. So, by lunch time Friday we were in Taos eating at Taos Outback Pizza. We then decided it wasn't worthy lally-gagging around and drove straight into the sunset. At midnight local time we were pulling into Grandma and Grandpa Bunker's driveway. DONE!
